Born and raised in Vermont, ELISABETH VON TRAPP is the granddaughter of
the legendary Maria and Baron von Trapp, whose story inspired The Sound of
Music. Singing professionally since childhood, Elisabeth has enthralled audiences
from European cathedrals to Washington D.C.’s Kennedy Center.
Inspired by her father Werner von Trapp’s guitar playing and singing, Elisabeth has
carried on the legacy of the internationally renowned Trapp Family Singers.
Building on her famed family’s passion for music, Elisabeth has created her own
artistic style, at once ethereal and earthy, delicate and powerful. Listeners have
likened her to Judy Collins and Loreena McKennitt. Critics have called her voice
...“hauntingly clear” “joyfully expressive” and “simply beautiful.”
Elisabeth has released fi ve self-produced albums, and has performed across the
United States, Austria and Russia. Her music has been featured on National Public
Radio, BBC-Radio, Japanese National Radio and CNN Spanish Radio. She has
appeared on CBS’s Eye on People, ABC’s Good Morning America and BBC-TV.
PAUL ASBELL (guitar/vocals) has played and recorded with Muddy Waters,
John Lee Hooker, Howlin’ Wolf, Lightnin’ Hopkins, Otis Rush, Paul Butterfi eld,
Pops Staples, Donny Hathaway, and numerous others while in his hometown of
Chicago, Ill. In 1978, he formed Kilimanjaro which led to several appearances at the
Kool Jazz Festival, the Montreal Jazz Festival, the Montreux Jazz Festival in Switzerland
and numerous national tours and concert dates. In 1981, he and other members
of Kilimajaro joined forces with a legendary saxophonist/blues singer to form Big
Joe Burrell and the Unknown Blues Band, which remained a Northeast regional favorite
until Big Joe’s passing in 2005. Paul’s guitar can be heard on all of Elisabeth’s
CDs; One Heart, One Mind, Christmas Song,Poetic License and Love Never Ends.
PETER RILEY (bass/vocals) is a founding member of the award-winning bluegrass
ensemble Breakaway and the hard driving rock unit, the X-Rays. A master of both
acoustic and electric bass, Peter slides seamlessly from appalachian tragedy to roadhouse
heartbreak. He is a true Renaissance man; a songwriter and music teacher,
nationally recognized birder, piano tuner, irish tenor and a formidable force on the links
as one of Vermont’s top amatuer golfers. Peter’s instrumental and vocal accompaniment
and arrangements can be heard on all of Breakaway’s recordings as well as Elisabeth’s
CDs Christmas Song, Poetic License and Love Never Ends.
